Kids Are So Smart...

So last night we went to a Christmas banquet...it was great...three beautiful words - "child care provided." The food and fellowship was a lot of fun.

We came home late - one of those nights where you just want to put the kids straight to bed - and go to bed yourself. Emily went straight to our room (her contacts were bothering her) and I tucked the boys into their beds. Our boys: Greyson 5yrs & Tate 3 yrs old (below picture is Tate - my 3 yr old).
I tucked them in and turned to leave the room...and Tate started yelling for mommy - "mommy...read me a story...mommy...kiss me." I told him mommy was already in bed - it was time for him to sleep. I turned and he yelled "daddy...kiss me again...read me a story." I firmly told him "Tate...no more yelling for MOMMY or DADDY, ok." He agreed.

As I left the room and took about 10 steps down the hall...I suddenly heard "Pastor Rick...read me a story!" I almost lost it...it took everything to keep from laughing. He didn't yell for mommy or daddy...but Pastor Rick. 3 yrs old and so smart.

I tell that story for this reason - they may be young...but they are so smart...if you have kids you know what I'm talking about. We must realize this and be a Godly example to them at all times...they are constantly learning and watching...we as parents need to be aware of this.

Hope to see you Sunday

Sick

Have you ever had a big test at school, a presentation at work, a trip scheduled...and you got sick just before zero hour?

That's where I'm at today. We start this great Christmas series today...and I'm sick. Can't breathe, sore throat, coughing, and snot...lots of snot. Here's the thing...this series is (in my opinion) gonna be amazing...and I truly believe that this is just an attack from the enemy...the evil one.

You see...there are things that God wants us to do...that He's called us to do. Then there are things that the evil one doesn't want us to do. At this point...I'm under the impression that the evil one doesn't want today's message to be heard by Lifepoint Church...I don't blame him.

Not only is this a Christmas series...but it will also challenge those in attendance to reach out to their friends, family and neighbors.

Pray for me...I'm believing that God is going to do something great today and during this series.

Hope to see you today.

Phoenix, AZ - Church Plant Conference

I spent the last 2 days in Phoenix, AZ - at an amazing church planting conference.
Tons and tons of amazing speakers: Dr. Alan Hirsch, Mark Batterson, Nelson Searcy, Hurbert Cooper, Lee McFarland, Dr. Ed Stetzer and Greg Surrat.

I came home tired, missing my family, and on information overload. The speakers each need to have their own conference...it was so overwhelming trying to learn as much as possible from them in just an hour or two.

I enjoyed my time in phoenix with the other guys from North Texas - Rick, Dave, KC, Jerry, Jason, John, Anthony, Tony, Ricky, Chad, and Bracy. Nothing like being in a foreign land on a Thursday night in a TGIFridays cheering for the Cowboys!

Anyways...it was a blast...I'm better for having been there. Looking forward to next year's conference in Dallas.

Hope to see you Sunday.

Tired?!

Does anyone else ever get tired...or is it just me?!

This week is no different. I'm heading to Phoenix tomorrow morning and coming back late Friday night...going for a church plant conference. I'm excited about the trip...but I've had to do twice as much work this week, so that the two days I'm gone doesn't put me two days behind.

This weekend is going to pretty cool. Saturday - I'm going to marry a couple who have been attending Lifepoint sense day 1...how cool is that? And Sunday we start a new series - The Christmas Series (see blog entry below for more info).

Hope to see you Sunday.

The Christmas Series

I'm so excited about what is happening at Lifepoint Church...the last 12 weeks have been amazing. We've had 2 interesting series: The Journey Begins & We Are Family. Last week our worship leader, Blake Knight, taught Lifepoint about the importance of worship and the many aspects of worship.

We hope you'll join us starting December 2nd for "The Christmas Series."
Week 1 - The Miracles of Christmas
Week 2 - Jesus Came to Light Up Your Life
Week 3 - The Rest of the Story
Week 4 - Why Christ Came

Again, the last 12 weeks have been a blast.
So many new faces and families...God has blessed us with some awesome new friendships.

I hope to see you this Sunday.

Sooner Than Expected...

We'll Lifepoint Church is about 6 1/2 weeks old...and things are going great.
On average we're seeing between 90-110 people in weekly attendance...which is amazing for a brand new church.

Sooner than expected...

Out of necessity we started what we that would be a youth "small group" (maybe 5 or 6 students)...but what we have is a full out youth group. We're seeing 15-20 students show up for our weekly gathering.

We are also launching 4 adult home teams next Sunday (21st of October). My plan wasn't to start youth or adult home teams until Jan. 2008...just so we could get a few months of regular attendance and see what the landscape of Lifepoint Church was going to look like. I guess God's timing is different than mine...and I love that! We just have to be willing to be flexible as He leads and guides us.

Be in prayer for us...we have about 46 more weeks in our current rented facility. I really believe we can purchase land and build a permanent church...but God is going to have to move and open doors for us. Please be praying that will occur very soon...it's not a great deal of fun as the "leader" to know that come next September we don't have a place to worship.

God is amazing...and I look forward to seeing what He's going to do.
I'll keep you posted.
